I spent most of the day walking the city. I visited two museums. The first "The End of the World" Museum was primarily about the history of the city. Ushuaia didn't become a city until the late 1800s. While the I was able to see some Shackleton documentaries that I hadn't seen before. The second was the "Ushuaia Jail and Military Prison " Museum. This was a large complex with a central entry and five wings off of that. The construction started in 1902 and the convicts had the pleasure of building their own jail. Some of the cells were refurbished for the museum but most of the long corridors and cells were filled with artifacts local to the area and a lot of shipping history. The was also a fair amount on Antarctic exploration.
I have scheduled three tours for tomorrow. One a bus tour or Tierra del Fuego National Park, one a train trip above the park and the third a trip in the Beagle Channel. I leave at 8 AM and will finish at 9 PM. It should be a great day with lots of picture opportunities.
